Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One is poised to feature some truly insane stunts and action sequences. Whether it’s the bike jumping off a cliff, an elaborate chase sequence through the streets of Rome, or a train wreck, director Christopher McQuarrie and star Tom Cruise keep upping the ante in terms of high-stakes thrills. According to co-star Simon Pegg, this is slated to continue with the sequel set to elevate the franchise’s action levels even further.
When asked by Comic Book to reveal the fate of his character, Pegg responded wtih a wait-and-see remark, before stating to reveal that Dead Reckoning Part Two is set to dial up the action even further. And that’s despite Dead Reckoning Part One already being a relentlessly paced thrill ride.
Well, whether or not Benji makes it into Part Two, which I obviously can’t divulge in the true style of Mission: Impossible. There will be another dial on the, you know, another notch on the dial will get turned on, and it’s coming to something incredible. I love the fact that this film feels like, even though it’s Part One, because it’s so relentlessly paced and so sort of engaging, you get to the end of it and you’re like, Okay, I can wait for the next one; you know, let me just take a break, and then we’ll see what happens next.
We haven’t seen much about Dead Reckoning Part Two except for bits and pieces, with one intriguing reveal about its ending not being in place yet. But what we have seen by virtue of featurettes and stills certainly appears promising. The sequel might feature some franchise-topping action sequences, including possibly one exhilariting airplane sequence that’s been teased multiple times over the past few months. My guess is, once Part One is out of the way and in theaters for a few months, some marketing for Part Two will slowly begin drip-feeding to the press.
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two hits theaters next year, on June 28, 2024.
